So it’s been a while now hasn’t it. I feel like i have not blogged in a long long time. Well here it goes. Today during worship my mom brought up something very interesting. She made a statement about seeking god. She said: Seek God while we can still find him. Now to be honest that struck a note with me because lately I have been going through some difficult Spiritual times. It also struck a note because it made me think about pathfinders. In Romans 13, Paul speaks to the Romans about how time is short. In verse 11 Paul writes: This is all the more urgent, for you know how late it is; time is running out. Wake up, for our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. 12 The night is almost gone; the day of salvation will soon be here. So remove your dark deeds like dirty clothes, and put on the shining armour of right living. 13 Because we belong to the day, we must live decent lives for all to see... Realizing the times we live in should prompt us to live a different way, act a different way, lead a different way. But sometimes it seems we are still sleep walking, going through the motions of things. Knowing that time is not on our side we should take to heart verses like Matthew 7:7 ; Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: Matthew 7:7, or 1 Peter where it says: 13 Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; 14 as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; 15 but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, 16 because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy... However none speak as loudly as JERMIAH 29:13 which says: 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. Our pathfinders are our future, and just because they are in the club does not mean they will be in the church always. Let us use this ministry as a way to further equip our young people so that they may be able to anchored in our lord and saviour Jesus Christ.
So someone said I should start a blog so I figured it was a good idea. Why you say well for one: when am I not on the computer and two at least this keeps me off Facebook :P. I titled this Blog Standing Out because this is something we should be doing (among other things). I have been part of the pathfinder ministry since the age of 14 and to be perfectly honest, I was not a fan when I started. There were 5 of us which turned to 3 and I remember I used to pray everyday for more kids to join since every meeting was like going somewhere with my sister and Paula who are 2 individuals who I basically grew up with. I prayed and I prayed but in my prayers I realized something: was it possible that my waiting was for a reason? Often in life we find ourselves praying and praying for something and when results do not happen, we wonder, sometimes get frustrated. This was the case for me. I wanted more people, new faces so that we could do more exciting things. However it did not seem like that was going to happen, so in my head I decided that the best way for us to move forward was to try to learn things when we had few so that when that day came when we had more then 3 pathfinders, we would be ready. Then the Orellana's came, then the Parada's came and slowly our numbers grew and grew and the next thing I know, our club has 20 club members and it seems we are always growing. Looking back at my early days, I learned 2 important things about God and me. The first was to always prepare. I mentioned earlier that I was originally not a fan of pathfinders well God put people around me that worked on me and helped me and the next thing I knew, I was the Deputy Director of the Club. However that transition would not have been possible if I were not prepared. The various leader's in the club were not just instructing us on what bible verses to read or which segment of our book we should have finished, they also gave us an opportunity to learn and to lead which is invaluable to me today. The bible says train up a child in the way he should go. I can say I was trained and encouraged and that has helped me. The next thing was patience in God's timing. The second thing I learned is that God's timing is his own and patience is something we sometimes don’t have. I learned that his timing in all this was the best because now we have the support and staff to be able to handle all these pathfinders. As we continue on through this year I know we have big things happening and coming for us, but lets be patient and prepare now so that we the time comes we can truly STAND OUT,
